Religious Education 2020-2021

We realize that we currently live in uncertain times, however, our goal is to assist our parents in the faith formation of their children in a way that makes everyone feel safe and valued.  Religious Education class offerings for next school year 2020-2021 will be announced soon.

Celebration of First Eucharist at St. Edith News

Dear First Eucharist Families,

After careful consideration to the health and safety of all participants, the decision has been made to have individual masses for First Eucharist this year due to the special circumstances resulting from COVID 19. A Sign Up Genius has been created for the weekend masses beginning June 20th and 21st and will run through September 5th and 6th. All three public masses are available: the 5:00 PM Mass on Saturdays and the 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM Masses on Sunday.

Two Communicants are allowed per Mass and we ask that you specify the number of immediate family, parents and siblings, which will be attending and sitting with the Communicant. The RE Office will reserve seats for the Communicant and immediate family so you do not need to make a reservation online as usual. Other family members will need to reserve their seats on the Wednesday before your chosen Mass on the St. Edith website starting at 7:00 PM.

The front row will be reserved for the Communicant and immediate family, however, you will need to bring your own lawn chairs for seating. People who are sick, even with mild symptoms should not attend the Mass.  Individuals that are in the vulnerable group, age 65 or older and people of any age with a chronic medical condition should consider not attending for their own safety.  We do appreciate your understanding in compliance of this request.

We ask that you plan on arriving at least 20 minutes beforehand to check in and go over reception of the Eucharist with Linda Kramer or another representative from the Religious Education Office.

ALL attendees of Masses are required to wear a face mask and, with the exception of immediate family members, are required to maintain 6 feet of distancing from others. Spots are marked on the parking lot for chairs and pews are roped off in the Church to allow for this.

All Masses are outside unless rain moves us into the Church.

Monies that were turned in for the keepsake DVD’s will be returned at your chosen Mass and the materials for the banners will be given to you to create your banner at home.

Should you have any questions or concerns please call the RE Office at 734-464-2020 or email me at .

Your patience and understanding have been a true Godsend to us as we planned your child’s reception of Jesus in the Holy Sacrament of Communion. Click here to sign up for First Communion Mass.

About the Religious Education Program

Religious Education classes include preparation for the completion of the Sacraments of Initiation; Reconciliation and Eucharist during the second grade as well as preparation for Baptism for those children not yet baptized.  A special mass geared for our children is held on the first Monday of the month during class time.  Families are welcome to attend Mass.

The goal of our Religious Formation Program is to provide an awareness of God’s presence in our children's lives and an appreciation, connectedness and better understanding of the Catholic faith and its traditions.  We look forward each year as we partner with our parents helping our young people further their understanding and practice of our Catholic Faith as they take another step closer in getting to "Know, Love & Serve" the Lord here at St. Edith!

All catechists participate in the Protecting God's Children program.  If you would be interested in sharing your faith and helping our children understand the faith more consider giving your time to this ministry!  Contact Linda Kramer for more information at or 734-464-2020.

Children needing sacraments:

If a child needs sacraments, they are given an opportunity to study the Catholic Faith on their level. We will work with the families. Please contact us!
