Blessing in a BackpackFEBRUARY 24/25, 2024

We will be collecting monetary donations, full sized boxes of cereal and boxed macaroni & cheese for Blessing in a Box/Livonia.

Blessing in a Box - Livonia provides meals to kids who may need a little extra help between lunch on Friday and breakfast on Monday.

In Livonia Public Schools, there are nearly 4,000 students that are at-risk for food insecurity. These children do not receive sufficient meals or nutrition on the weekend. The unfortunate result is that many students return to school on Mondays tired and hungry and are unable to concentrate or care about their studies.

Blessing in a Backpack is a national organization. Our Livonia group is locally run and funded. They purchase the food from Meijer and Sysco. It costs BIAB-Livonia approximately $175 to feed a child each weekend for a school year.

Currently, they provide children at 17 schools in the Livonia District with weekend food packs during the school year. They currently serve approximately 575 students and that continues to grow.

They cannot fulfill their mission without the assistance of community members like you. They gratefully accept monetary donations. Donations of full size boxes of cereal or macaroni and cheese are also most helpful. Checks should be made payable to: Blessings in a Backpack. In the memo, please put "Livonia, Michigan."

Someone will be in the Gathering Area after each Mass on February 24/25 to collect donations. Thank you!!
