Welcome to St. Edith Catholic School!

Building Updates

  • New boilers were installed to replace our 30 and 40 year old boilers.

  • The technology company completed the rewiring of the building. They are working now on the computer lab, so your auction dollars will be up and running on the first day!

  • Water filling stations were installed in water fountains around the building, and pitchers with Brita filters are in the preschool classrooms. This is aligned with the Clean Drinking Water Access Act of 2023. https://www.michigan.gov/egle/about/organization/drinking-water-and-environmental-health/school-drinking-water-program/filter-first

  • Continuing with the safety upgrades from last year, shatterproof film was installed over the front doors, front windows, and all downstairs windows. The back door was replaced to be up to building code. We also installed the panic latch to release the double doors inside the building in case of an intruder.

Lunch Orders

  • The September lunch order is ready via FACTS! It will close on Tuesday, August 26th. The lunch order will also have SEPA’s bagel ordering and 8th grade’s monthly ice cream fundraiser for ordering. Please make sure kids are packing lunches until Tuesday, September 2nd.

Upcoming Dates

  • Kindergarten Meet and Greet will be held in the building on Monday, August 18th, from 2-4 p.m. If you cannot make it, no worries! It is an optional event to get to see the classroom, meet the teacher and aide, and get more familiar with the building.

  • Supply drop-off is Tuesday, August 19th, from 2-3 p.m. The doors will be open at 2 p.m. We look forward to seeing everyone then! If you cannot come, it is not a problem. We will see grades 1 through 8 bright and early on Wednesday, August 20th, for a half day with an 11:10 a.m. dismissal. You are welcome to help your child in the building with supplies if you were unable to make the supply drop off. Uniforms start the first day!

  • For our preschool and K Prep friends, the K Prep Stay and Play is Wednesday, August 20th, at 6:30, following PS3 at 5:30 and PK4 at 6. Tuesday, September 3rd is PS3’s first day and K Prep’s first day of school, a half day.

  • Thursday, August 21st will be a full day for first through eighth grade and a half day for kindergarten and kindergarten prep. Kindergarten and K Prep will dismiss at 11:10 a.m. On these days, you can either use the drop-off line, or you can walk your child to the school doors and say goodbye there. The only exception for a parent coming into the building will be for a parent to help bring in supplies to the classroom. This is to keep our building safe and secure and to minimize separation behaviors.

  • Friday, August 22nd will be a full day for grades K Prep through 8th grade and our first Add-to-Uniform Eagle Friday. All uniform requirements are in place, but students may wear any St. Edith top instead of a polo.

  • Monday, August 25th and Wednesday, August 27th, are PK4’s first days, both half days with 11:10 dismissals. They will start full days on Wednesday, September 3rd.

  • Tuesday, August 26th is PS3’s first day of school.

  • Save the date for our Curriculum Night, on Wednesday, August 27th, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. We will meet in the church and then disperse to classrooms. SEPA and School Committee members will be there to discuss their committees and how to get involved.

Volunteering

In your August packet that will be going home, there is the criminal background check form. This, and an updated Protecting God’s Children, must be on file before you are able to volunteer. Remember that the Protecting God’s Children must be the most updated one that was taken on or after January 2020. Here is the link if you need to sign up. I have also attached the background check form Criminal Background Check Authorization Form.pdf; it may look different from what is in the packet, but please know that either one is acceptable.

Sign up geniuses will be going out soon for volunteering for lunch or recess duty. Remember that families need to complete their hours by May 2026.
