The RCIA is a process by which adults become members in full Communion with the Catholic Church. It involves study, prayer, discernment and a commitment. From September until Easter, candidates meet with the RCIA team and go through the various doctrinal aspects of our faith.

Definitions


Catechumen A person who has never been baptized in any faith and wishes to be baptized into the Catholic faith.

Candidate A person who was baptized in another faith and who wishes to be accepted in the Catholic faith and be confirmed.

Non-catechized Catholic A person who has been baptized as a Catholic, but who has never been confirmed or received the other sacraments and who has never received any religious teachings

Pre-catechumenate A period of inquiry and initial study of the Catholic Faith. In many instances it can last a long time. In most instances however it is a short period of study.

Catechumenate When a person begins to accept their new faith and wishes to continue on in study and conversion.

Initiation The time the person receives the sacraments at Easter Vigil.

Mystogogy A period of catechesis after the person has entered into full communion with the Church.

Any one who is already Catholic and would want to refresh their faith are invited to come and participate in the classes.

We invite people to join us at any time. The Spirit never stops working.
