Young Adults

The St. Edith Young Adult group gathers for faith sharing and fellowship, getting spiritually recharged, building relationships and exploring what meaningful adulthood looks like. Join us for monthly outings the second Saturday of each month. We will also be doing some service projects together. All are welcome!

Young Catholic Professionals

Young Catholic Professionals (YCP) is a national organization with a unique mission to help young adults in their 20's and 30's grow in their faith. There is now a new YCP Detroit chapter and the Young Adults of St. Edith are invited to join.

Through the mission of YCP all are challenged to promote their Catholic identify as they "work in witness for Christ" both in their personal and professional lives. YCP hosts a variety of events throughout the year:

  • Executive Speaker Series are on the last Wednesday of each month, and are hosted at a parish. An experienced business executive will share his/her professional and faith journeys, offer advice to young professionals, and answer questions. The event begins and ends with time for networking. Admission is free, and complimentary beer, wine, and appetizers are provided. An average of 150 people attend these events.
  • Networking Happy Hours are quarterly events held at a local bar. Icebreakers are provided and the focus is on creating contacts and building relationships with peers in your industry. Admission is free, and appetizers are provided, but alcohol must be purchased. An average of 90 people attend each quarter.
  • St. Joseph the Worker Retreats are held during both Advent and Lent. The retreats are half-day events beginning with a light breakfast. Attendees will have opportunities for small group discussion, reflection, Mass, and Reconciliation.

YCP Ambassadors

To promote all events at the parish level, YCP employs the aid of Parish Ambassadors (PAs). Parish Ambassadors serve as liaisons between YCP and area parishes. They advocate for YCP by inviting parishioners & priests to events via the bulletin, personal invitation and the pulpit. PAs are active in their parish--taking part in the sacraments and participating in parish activities, and being active in the young adult group. Their dynamic witness of the faith is their strongest means of sharing YCP at the parish level.
