Confirmation Preparation - Grade 8
The Confirmation year is a very important year for our young people and our hope is that it is spirit filled! As these young people go through their Confirmation preparation, effort is made to help them recognize and identify with what they have been taught in the home, and in religious formation up until this point in their lives. This year can be crucial in helping them to hold their Catholic Christian identity close to heart. In contemporary culture there are so many things that are tugging at them to make choices. When a young person has a strong identity with their faith, it helps them to make the right choices. These right choices make for a healthier, happier and holier teen and will stay with them throughout their teenage years and into adulthood.
Confirmation Preparation meets twice a month on the First and Third Monday of most months from 6:30-8:30PM. There is, also, a Confirmation Session available on Sunday mornings from 9:45-10:45AM for those not attending on Monday. Each Monday session will begin with Mass. Parents and family members are always welcome to join us for Mass!
Family involvement is always important and throughout the year there will be times when we gather with both students and parents. Each year we have a special guest speaker as well as other opportunities for parents and students to come together. For many years the St. Edith Candidates have gone on an overnight Confirmation Retreat. This usually happens in November or December. The date of Confirmation varies from year to year, but at St. Edith it is typically in February, or March.
